Gbelce - History
The village was mentioned from 1233. The village Gbelce was a settlement of volutova culture and Neolithic culture with fluted pottery. The name of the village was changed from Cubulcut (1233), Kubelkuth (1299), Kebelkut, Kebulkut (1346) and Köbölkút (1786); Hungarian Köbölkút. Today’s name of the village is Gbelce from the year 1948.
To the 14 th century was the village owned by Köbölkútiov family, later Yeoman families, in the 16 th century to Báthory family. In the 1593 was the village occupied by Turks. Early in the 17 th century was the village owned by Keglevichovci family, since 1635 Pálffy family owned the village. In the late 17 th century the unpopulated village was again settled. In 1715 had the village vineyards and 23 households, in 1787 had the village 90 houses and 629 inhabitants, in 1828 had the village 99 houses and 777 inhabitants. In the 18 th century was in the village big lake (fishpond), early in the 20 th century was in the village built brick factory. The people in the village made mostly agriculture. There was a strong movement of small peasant-proprietor and agriculture workers (1920,1927 a 1928 were in the village strikes). The people job wasn’t changed nor ’ the year 1918. The village was between the years 1938-45 adjoint to Hungarian.
